Weekend Pictures

Sorry I cannot firgure out what is wrong with these Pictures. Oh well you can see them when we get home. See you soon.

Well we had a great weekend

I am sorry for not updating it unil now but where we work is the only place that we have internet, and I could not access the internet. Well Friday we got up and went to work to find nothing but rain. But the guys put up trusses anyway. There was nothing for the kids to do beacuase you could not paint you could not do masonry and any more people on the roof would just be in the way. A group of us went up to an orphanage, about a hour and a half drive up the mountains. It was very scenic. We went through this beautiful river bed that the English when they were in power dried up the river bed and now it is filled with all kinds of plants and trees and anything green. We had a great time there, the boys there are taught woodworking, welding and other trades so when they get out into the world they can get a job. We bought some of the little dishes and pens they had made out of wood. On the way back we got caught in that rain storm that had been haunting us in the morning. All the water fom up the mountain was rushing down the mountain side. As we were traveling there was cars everywhere on the side of the road with flat tires and water in the engine. We were bound in certain areas by trees and water and we had to just stop and wait out the storm. On Saturday we went to the straw market and bought some souvenirs, after that we climbed Dunn's River falls. A large water fall about ten minutes away from where we were staying. On Sunday we went to church in the morning, and about 3:30 p.m. we went out on a boat and had a great time. It is 6:11 a.m. on Monday morning and I need to get helping them. Remember we will be leaving tomorow. We should be returning to the church sometime around 10:30 I think. Please don't hold me to that. You will probaly getting alot of calls tomorow as all our cell phones will begin to work.

Work Work Work!

Wow what an entertaining day! Well today we worked hard and played hard. During the day we built trusses, painted and some people were working on diggin a trench to run a pipe. We made nine trusses in record time (many thumbs and fingernails are in pain tonight.). The painting crew was doing an awesome job on finishing the paint. Tonight was a great night all around, but some may not think so in the morning. ha ha ha. Well the maids in our rooms prepared for us a thanksgiving dinner (witch is strange to them because they do not have thanksgiving here). Then we had a time of devotion. Mr. Mark Briley played the guitar. Later on in the night there was some card games, some scrabble, and even some tricks. Mr. Lee and Mrs. Michelle seem to be the ring leaders of these pranks. Everyone is out to get them, but they are also out to get on their side so they do not get pranked. Well here are some of the pranks that were done: rasin in toothpaste, painting of the toenails, shaving cream on the back of the fridge handles, shaving cream inMrs. Michelle's shoes (I will give you an update on that event tomorow morning). There was also a sting operation for mrs. Michelle, they wanted to paint rusty's toenail's. so Rusty found out and decided to let them do it, and him still be awwake without them knowing. It worked! Rusty jumped up as they were painting and they flew out the door like bats. We had a great night. It is great to finally get some time to relax and have fun. Well it is fun unless you are the one with pink toenails or shaving cream in your shoe.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to you. Make sure that you are truly thankful for what you have today because we here have learned that sometimes we forget how thankful we really are. We have seen people here that are more thankful for the little that they do have than we are for all that we do have. Give Thanks.

Another day of hard Work!

Yesterday we worked extremely hard again. Well for most of us any way, just kidding. There was about 7 of us that got up to leave at six and we also stayed late until 6:30. They were given the name 626.3 (six to six-thirty) We made seven trusses yesterday, accomplished alot of painting, and made great progress on smoothing out the wall. We went to a local Italian restaurant called evitas last night. It was good. The chef came out and he was of asian decent, in an italian restaurant in jamaica. It was funny. Everyone is having a great time. Pray for Sam Paynter Jr. He is coming down with a cold and a fever. We better get to work.

What a hard day of work!

tuesday november 22 Wow what an exhausting work dayWow we really worked hard today! When the materials for the roof came in we needed to get them to the top (3rd) floor. There is no forklifts, or anything of that sort we had to tote it up by hand. Some of these boards were soking wet making them so much heavier. Most of the team spent alot of time painting. Then about 3:30 it started raining like crazy. I have never seen so much rain. We had chapel service today and it was excellent. Pastor bob spoke today in chapel. We went out to eat tonight a local restaurant, came back and played some board games and now it is 12:06 a.m. as i am typing this and we have to get up at 5:15 to be to the work site by 6:00. I better get to bed and get ready for tomorow.

We made it here safely.

Monday, november 21 We arrived in JamaicaWell it all started at about 2:30 Monday morning. With everyone on the buss, we froze. Theheat on the buss was not working. Despite the frigid temperatures we made it to the airport safely. Some people found their own way of keeping warm. Others just road it out. We made it to philadelphia in a timely manner. We had over 60 tubes of construction adhesive in our suit cases that we were going to use on the roof, but airport security would not allow it through because of it's flammability. WE actually had time to grab a bite to eat before we got on the plane. Once we were boardedon the plane all of a sudden the lights on the plane went out. It turns out it was justa glitch in the backup lights on the plane. We made it to Jamaica fine and everyone's luggage made it. We have been to the grocery store and have gotten some snacks for the week. Some people went out to the caribbean and went swimming. Well that concludes monday's events, check back tomorow for more updates.
